How to Join
No mandolin orchestra can ever have too many members. All players of
mandolin-family instruments (mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello,
cittern/liuto cantabile, and mandobass) are welcome to join the orchestra.
Most of our arrangements also have parts for nylon-string classical
guitar, so guitarists are welcome as well.
We make every effort to accommodate new players of any ability. We are in this for the fun! It helps if you already know how to read music, but if not, you can still join—we can arrange for lessons to help you build your skills. We collect $25 in dues every half year, or $50 per year. New members' dues are pro-rated. The dues help cover the cost of sheet music and conductor fees. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at 7 p.m. at Discovery House (owned by Seattle First Church of the Nazarene), 4401 2nd Ave. NE in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood (behind the Dick’s Drive-In on 45th). We typically take off the end of December. We also usually skip the Monday after a weekend concert, so it is a good idea to call us at (425) 673-0263 or before showing up for the first time. |
