Alan Jacobson has been a local performer, arranger and educator since 1974. He is director and first mandolinist of the Emerald City Mandolin Quartet as well as the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra. He can be heard on Microsoft's Musical Instruments and Encarta CD-ROM computer software and Encarta CD-ROM and Internet encyclopedia.

Alan has taught mandolin lessons for over 30 years. Although his specialty is classical tremolo style, he plays and teaches most styles. He can teach you how to improvise, as well as how to interpret and play written music on the mandolin—and help you develop proper left- and right-hand technique along the way.
